  • Works of Mercy Hours: Reminder

    Please be mindful that Works of Mercy hours for the 2018-19 school year should be turned in by the last day of school. Freshmen need a minimum of 20 hours, Sophomores need a minimum of 40 hours, and Juniors need a minimum of 60 hours. If you are unsure of what you owe, please contact Mrs. Phenicie or your Guidance Counselor. Any hours completed after June 1, 2018 are eligible to be turned in for credit.

    There is an opportunity to earn Works of Mercy hours this summer! The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Conewago Chapel) is putting together a Parish Pictorial Directory. Lifetouch Photography will be taking pictures at Sacred Heart from June 14 to June 25, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

    Student volunteers are needed to help check-in families/parishioners for their photography appointments.  If interested, or for more information, please contact Keith Rider at (717) 524-8606 or email him at krider65@comcast.net.

    Spring Grove is looking for volunteers to help with their Smoke in the Grove event on July 26-27. Volunteers will be helping with odd jobs around the event, such as collecting trash, directing traffic, parking cars, etc. Please see this link for more information and to sign up.     Volunteers are needed to help at UTZ Summer Bash from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 26th. Shifts will be 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. till 5 p.m. to help with set up and tear down. Volunteers will also be provided a meal voucher for a free meal from one of our vendors for their hard work! At the bottom of this announcement is a link to a Google form for volunteers to sign-up and provide us with their contact information.     St. Francis Xavier is hosting its annual Drop at the Rock Family Festival on Sunday, June 2.     Delone is looking for volunteers to help with the Henny Noel Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 8. It would be from about 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course.  If interested, students should see Mrs. Heberling to sign up.

    The Cross Country Team is hosting their second annual 5k on June 1st. This year's fundraiser will be raising funds in memory of former DC athlete, Tommy Laudani.
     
    The event is Saturday, June 1st at the Codorus Marina and volunteers are asked to arrive by 8 AM. The event should be concluded 10:30 AM.

    The New Oxford Area Community Bible school will be held June 23rd to June 27th and they are looking for students interested in earning service hours.
     
    Help is needed to teach and work with the children that will be attending the New Oxford Community Bible school. Volunteers would help with teaching bible stories, songs, activity pages, crafts, making theme related snacks and play time.
     
    Bible school will be held from Sunday, June 23 to Thursday, June 27 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 20 South Peter Street, New Oxford, PA 17350.  Volunteers would need to arrive by 6:45 pm.  Please contact Dawn Smith at 717-965-2559 for more information or to volunteer. Volunteers are welcome, even if you cannot work every night.

    The Children's Aid Society-The Nicarry Center is looking for volunteers to help with gardening tasks (weeding, raking, trimming) at their location - 343 Lincoln Way West in New Oxford. They are looking for volunteers to help care for the cats at PetCo in Hanover, which would include changing cages, feeding the cats, and socializing them.
